This card features a poem I wrote which is designed to bring comfort to anyone who may be having a difficult time this Christmas following loss or bereavement.

A Christmas card for anyone who might be struggling this Christmas

It started life as a poem and illustration which I shared online in December 2019.  It was shared by mental health charity Your Voice.  By Boxing Day, the post had over 20000 reshares and thousands of heartbreaking comments kept pouring in from people recently bereaved and those who were still struggling with their grief from the past.

"My father died yesterday at 5am I am devastated. He loved Christmas and spent it with me and my children. It will be so hard tomorrow without him"

"I lost my beloved son Michael and Christmas’s is so very hard for me.It still break my heart after five years he was 42 loved him so much.just lovely words thank you for that"

"My mum passed away this morning  totally heartbroken lovely words to come up on my screen today"

"Just lost my aunt yesterday morning. She had been a mother figure to me for many years after my Moms passing. Thank you, I really needed this this morning"

And they kept coming.

It was heartbreaking to read through these messages, yet there were so also so many people saying how much comfort these words had given them during a difficult time. I replied to as many as I could to offer condolences and I decided to make this a card which people could send.

I'm delighted to be able to support Your Voice with a 50p  donation from each card. They provide incredible support and many services to assist women with their mental health journey.  If you'd like to read more about how this card came to be, click here.

The Poem inside reads:

If Christmas is hard,

If you’ve lost someone dear,

Just look in your heart,

And you’ll know they’re still here.

The star in the sky,

The light falling snow.

The robin outside,

It seems like they know.

If this is a time,

When you’re struggling through,

Just do what you can,

For what matters, is you.

There’s no need to be merry,

There’s no need to be bright.

Just do what you can,

It will all be alright.
